A crisis is as an unexpected traumatic event that affects the workplace, such as:
- an unanticipated clinical adverse outcome
- a traumatic injury or death of an employee
- a community disaster, such as an earthquake or fire
- an act of threat or violence by an employee or a health plan member
The EAP will immediately respond to managers and staff in response to a workplace crisis. The goal is to assess and debrief with those impacted in hopes of stabilizing the workplace faster and mitigating the effects of traumatic stress.

Crisis Assessment Consultations
Provided to Management and Union Partners to determine need and to schedule services following a critical incident.

Grief Groups
Offered when an employee dies on or off the worksite, or the result of an adverse clinical outcome.

Crisis Debriefing
Structured groups that help people process the experience and start to identify coping mechanisms. It can also identify individuals that might benefit from further resources. Debriefings are usually conducted 24-72 hours following the incident and not immediately afterwards.

Threat Management
(First, report any threats to security ASAP) Responds to reports of potential acts of threatening or violent behavior, assists and consults with reporting persons in exploring and developing interventions and procedures, and supports the emotional impact of reporting persons. |
Crisis Follow-up Consultations
As needed throughout the crisis (maybe even weeks and/or months following), including anniversary dates.
